In the article “Seeing ourselves through Technology” by Jill Walker Rettberg, the author talks mainly about how technology is changing and that we noticed but we never realized how long it took for artists to create these amazing pieces and how complicated it was because if they messed up, they had to start over, or try and fix it to fit into the art piece. I’m currently in the library in the upstairs study area and there is many pictures with different angles and ways they make us view the photo to see what they wanted us to see and if it were paintings instead of pictures I feel like I would get distracted and look at them a lot more and try to figure out what the artist wants us to see. What I’m trying to say is that if every picture we see was a painting I feel more people would not only just quick look at it and be like “wow, cool painting” the people that really like it would go back and see it more and more to figure out the meaning behind it. So, what I’m trying to say even clearer is that paintings make people look deeper and take more time to really understand what is the meaning behind it then a cool photo that you will see once and not have to go back because there is no meaning behind it just something to make the wall look less empty. Another view from the article I liked was when the author talked about how we use filters to make pictures more unique and give their own aspect. When I finished reading that section I went on Instagram and just scrolled to see what that author was saying, and it is crazy to think that if filters never existed, we would have to wait till dark to take photos and have them be dark and have to take many pictures to get just the right lighting. In conclusion, if you look at all the pictures you have from when you were little to now you can see the change in technology just with how your pictures have gotten much clearer and better quality.
