In the article A Beginner’s Guide: 16 Essential Style Tips For Guys Who Want to Dress Better by Peter Nguyen, he talks about 16 tips for guys who want to dress better. I’m only looking at a couple of the tips because this week I’m looking at tops and how tops can make or break an outfit. The first tip I’m going to be talking about is tip 7: STAY CLEAR OF GRAPHICS, LOGOS, AND WILD PRINTS (FOR NOW). For this tip Peter talks about how starting a new wardrobe with plain shirts and button ups is a good start. Peter goes on about how plain shirts will make you look more mature and easier to be taken serious than if your wearing a shirt with the logo written on it with a picture on it to go with the style. The next tip I’m going to be talking about is tip 8: STICK TO SOLID NEUTRAL COLORS. For this tip Peter talks about how sticking to neutral colors will make your outfit not to overpowering. Also that most of our closet is already neutral colors in the first place. When your closet it neutral colors you don’t need to learn how to “mix and match colors” because they all mainly go with each other. The final tip I’m going to be talking about is tip 12: USE “THE SWAP TRICK” TO GRADUALLY STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. In this step Peter talks about how to make a simple, plain outfit then take one piece of it and change it to make it more unique. In the example he changes the top so that is where this step comes into play. Peter makes a plain outfit then suggests changing the top to a brighter top or a top with a pattern on it to give the outfit more of a uncommon fit. Even though I only went over the tips that come across changing your top there is still 13 other tips.
