Final Reflection

  1. An area you still need improvement in- Commas
I connected to this because when I grew up my parents weren’t big into pictures but we still had a decent camera that the lens would come out to take pictures and it would go back in when you turned it off, and as we got older that camera never was used to take pictures, we started to use our phones now I have an iPhone 8 plus and my camera is almost as good as a camera with basic lens and no expensive features. The weakness I see is the commas, today this day I still don’t know when a comma is supposed to be used. The errors in this little piece is in the the second line after “into pictures” the should be a comma before but. The second error is after “turned it off” instead of a comma I should’ve used a period then started a new sentence after it.

  2. An area you improved in- Sentence Structure
When I grew up smartphones just started to come on the rise. I remember buying myself the I Pod 4th generation a couple months after it came out because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend all my money on one big thing. When I first got it I started to download all the games and apps that my friends had so we could compete against each other on who could get the high score, and I remember one of my friend’s told me to download this editing app that you can do all sorts of things with any picture. The improvements I see in from this piece and most of my other pieces is my sentence structure. In the beginning of the class my sentence structure was okay but I had lost my touch just over the summer because I didn’t write any papers of any kind, only text messages with all sorts of abbreviations.

  3. An area you feel more confident about- In text Citations
One great connection Stedman stats is “I swear I did some research”.  The author explains this as when we paraphrase a source, change it with our own ideas and then provide a citation at the end. He does this example because he wants us to learn that when we add our own ideas to a quote or idea that it is hard for the teacher/professor to see what is our own work and what is someone’s else… Why I feel more confident in this area is because throughout the whole semester in most of our blog post we had to include in text citations. As the semester went on my in text citations got better and better because I learned from other students on how to bring it up.

  4. Your proudest moment- Why Blog
One counter point is that access to technology could create an obstacle for students. Students are opening themselves up for negative criticism, and this could hurt their writing experience. Another one is that there is no real format and as students go onto college other courses may require essays done in a certain format. It is not a controlled environment for feedback, and if negative feedback appears you can go in and delete it but that won’t make what you already read go away. The reason why this is my proudest moment because this is my first piece from this class and every other post is showing me getting better and better. For me everything in life takes practice and without doing it the first and knowing it won’t be your best is really the proudest moment you can have because you went out of your comfort zone to start something new.

  5. The things I personally gained from this class will help me go through everyday life. For one is knowing everyone had a learning part in life like for instance Tyler and how he sold drugs but was so open to the class because he knows it was his past and that he has changed and become a better man himself. I will use Tyler as a inspiration to become a better man myself and to not focus on the bad things I did in my life, but the good things I’m doing now as learning from past experiences. Another thing I learned from this course is that even when you think you should’ve have come to class because you did nothing to help you, you still learned something. The day we did the photo editing in class I was telling myself I should’ve just went to the library and did my homework so I didn’t have to stay after class, but what I learned that day is that some of my classmates I thought would’ve done an easy edit on the photo went way beyond what I did and taught us how to do exactly what they did which was really cool and interesting. The last thing I learned from is this class was of course all the information you gave us from the beginning of the class to the very last day.
